Steve Fleck

Steve Fleck is the Executive Vice President and Chief Practice & Project Officer at Stantec, a leading global design and consulting firm. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, he has held this position since March 2007, accumulating over 17 years of experience with the company. In his role, Fleck is responsible for the strategic positioning, pursuit, and governance of Stantec's largest projects, as well as overseeing all alternative project delivery methods within the organization.1

Background and Expertise

Fleck has a strong background in project management and public-private partnerships. He has shared his expertise through presentations at various conferences across North America and has lectured at institutions such as the University of Alberta and Penn State University. His contributions to the field were recognized in 2020 when he received the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies in British Columbia (ACEC-BC).1

Education

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Queen's University (1983) and an MBA from Simon Fraser University (1994). Additionally, he completed the Director's Education Program at the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2015.1

Professional Affiliations

Fleck is a registered Professional Engineer in both British Columbia and Ontario. He serves on several boards, including the National Research Council advisory board and has previously been involved with Providence Health Care and ACEC-Canada.1
