Steve Ellis

Steve Ellis is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Chainlink Labs.123 He has a background in software engineering and product development, with over a decade of experience in the tech industry.12

Ellis graduated from New York University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2010.13 His career began as a Teacher's Assistant at NYU, where he provided online assistance, graded homework, and proctored exams for the Computer Science department.3

Before co-founding Chainlink, Ellis worked as a Software Engineer at Pivotal Labs from July 2010 to March 2013, focusing on extreme programming and building scalable payments automation software.15 In 2014, he co-founded Secure Asset Exchange and served as its CTO, developing tools for decentralized asset exchange.13

Ellis co-founded Chainlink (initially called SmartContract.com) in 2014 along with Sergey Nazarov.12 They published the Chainlink white paper in September 2017.1 Since then, Chainlink has grown into a leading Web3 services platform, enabling trillions of dollars in transaction value across various industries.6

As CTO of Chainlink Labs, Ellis helps smart contract teams and enterprises unlock the potential of Chainlink for their smart contracts.4 He has been instrumental in developing Chainlink's decentralized oracle network, which provides secure and reliable services for its growing user base.12

Ellis is known for his passion for Ethereum, Bitcoin, and the decentralized future.5 He has spoken at industry events such as SmartCon 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.1
