    Steve Case is an American entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist, widely recognized as a pioneer in making the internet accessible in everyday life.125 He was born on August 21, 1958.46

    Case co-founded America Online (AOL) in 1985 and, as Chairman and CEO, led AOL to become the largest and most valuable Internet company, driving the global adoption of the internet.12 In 1992, AOL became the first Internet company to go public.2 In 2000, Case negotiated a merger between AOL and Time Warner, the largest in business history at the time.25 He stepped down as CEO when the merger closed in 2001, serving as Chairman of the Board for the combined company until 2003.2

    Currently, Case is the Chairman and CEO of Revolution LLC, an investment firm based in Washington, D.C. that supports entrepreneurs.15 Revolution has several divisions, including Revolution Growth, Revolution Ventures, and Revolution Health.2 Case is also the Chairman of the Startup America Partnership, which was launched at the White House in 2011 to promote entrepreneurship.15 He served on President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, chairing the subcommittee on entrepreneurship.15

    In 1997, Steve and his wife Jean created the Case Foundation.2357 The Case Foundation is a private family foundation that invests in people and organizations that embrace the "Be Fearless" principles and harness entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and collaboration to drive social impact.3 They joined The Giving Pledge in 2010, committing to donate the majority of their wealth to charitable causes.257

    Case is the author of the New York Times bestselling book, The Third Wave: An Entrepreneur’s Vision of the Future.157
