Stephen Turner is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a co-founder of Pacific Biosciences, a company he helped establish in July 2000. He has played a pivotal role in the company's development, serving as its President and CEO until March 2004, after which he transitioned to the CTO position. Dr. Turner holds a PhD in Physics from Cornell University, awarded in 2000, and has a strong academic background with B.S. degrees in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, and Physics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.134
Throughout his career, Dr. Turner has contributed significantly to the fields of DNA sequencing technology and biophysics, authoring over 50 scientific papers and holding more than 50 U.S. patents. His work has been recognized with awards such as the MIT Technology Review "TR100" Award in 2003 and the Distinguished Young Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008.234
