Stephen Nielsen

Stephen Nielsen is an accomplished education and finance professional with a commitment to equity, growth, sustainability, and systems improvement. With a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Washington University, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington's Evans School, Stephen's extensive experience in both the private and public sectors has earned him an impressive track record of accomplishments as a leader, consultant, and educator.

Stephen's impressive track record includes leading the Seattle Public Schools back to fiscal integrity and sustainability following a financial crisis. He has successfully led public policy changes in education, working for two Governors of the State of Washington, and has also led statewide efforts to address constitutionally required funding for public education.

Throughout his career, Stephen has served on numerous boards and commissions, with a focus on improving the economy and education. He has taught education finance as an adjunct professor, and his expertise and experience in communications, leadership, and strategic planning have proven invaluable to the organizations he has worked for.

Currently, Stephen is the Principal Consultant at Stephenjnielsen LLC, and has formerly served as the Deputy Superintendent and CFO at Seattle Public Schools, as well as the CFO at PSESD. His passion for creating long-term value for organizations and individuals shines through in his work and accomplishments.
