Stephen Girsky

Stephen Girsky is the Chief Executive Officer of Nikola Motor Company, a position he has held since August 4, 2023. Prior to becoming CEO, he served as the Chairman of the Board for Nikola since September 2020. His appointment followed the resignation of Michael Lohscheller due to personal reasons. Girsky remains a member of the Board and is focused on advancing Nikola's mission in zero-emissions transportation and energy solutions.12

Background and Experience

Girsky has over 30 years of experience in the automotive and corporate sectors. He previously held significant roles at General Motors, including Vice Chairman, where he was involved in global corporate strategy and new business development from 2010 to 2014. His career also includes positions as Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and Paine Webber, focusing on equity research in the automotive industry.13

Education

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and an MBA from Harvard Business School.23

Current Roles

In addition to his role at Nikola, Girsky is also involved with several boards, including Clarios and Viaduct, and serves as Managing Partner at VectoIQ, a firm specializing in strategic advisory services.3
