Stephen Comello

Stephen Comello is a distinguished lecturer in management and a senior fellow at the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy, Policy and Finance, Stanford University. With a PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Management Science & Engineering and a M.Eng. in Industrial Engineering, he has made significant strides in the fields of energy technology economics, policy, and business model innovation. An expert in low-carbon energy solutions, his research focuses on the competitiveness of low-carbon energy in both developed and emerging economies. He consults privately and publicly on this subject globally.
Comello's accomplishments include being a techno-economic and policy lead for Stanford University’s Bits & Watts Initiative and StorageX Initiative, co-instructor for the popular Building Energy Efficiency online course, and advisor at Carbon Direct and Bain & Company. He served as a Research Affiliate at the Grid Integration, Systems & Mobility Group at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies at the University of Mannheim. He was also a visiting scholar at ETH Zurich, former CCS technical advisor at Carbon Infrastructure Partners, and a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford University - School of Engineering.
