Stephanie Eche
Stephanie Eche is a Chicana artist, cultural producer, and principal of Distill Creative with a diverse background in tech, marketing, design, and community building.
As the former placemaking manager at Vornado & JBG Smith, she contributed to transforming the Crystal City area of Northern VA, selected as the site for Amazon's HQ2, by leveraging her skills in art consulting and community engagement.
Stephanie has a broad experience in developing art installations, pop-ups, community programs, corporate events, and custom experiences for both corporate clients and non-profits, collaborating with entities like JBG Smith, Vornado, WeWork, Lyft, and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Having been part of the growth of startup tech and e-commerce firms like Betabrand, 2U, and Nesting Days, she transitioned from the digital space to real estate, focusing on making spaces more vibrant and inclusive for tech companies.
Her professional journey includes involvement in two IPOs (2U, JBG Smith) and spans across cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, DC, Phoenix, and Bilbao, before settling in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2015, Stephanie founded Distill Creative, later rebranded from cocktails+craft™, to address the lack of representation for women of color in site-specific art projects within real estate developments, facilitating connections between developers and local artists for more equitable opportunities.
She also subcontracted for CulturalDC, overseeing the curation and project management of numerous site-specific art projects, with a strong focus on supporting women artists.
Stephanie's educational background includes studies in Digital Marketing at General Assembly, a B.A. in Communication from the University of Southern California, and courses in German Language and Literature as well as Fashion Design.
