    Janine Steele is a seasoned producer, production manager, and arts administrator with a rich background in the intersection of traditional filmmaking and cutting-edge media and technologies.

    Currently serving as a Project Manager at Creative BC, she leads the development and execution of the Domestic Motion Picture Fund, a $2 million initiative by the government of BC to support local content creators.

    Previously, Janine excelled as the Director of Production & Operations, Digital at the National Film Board of Canada, where she contributed to groundbreaking interactive documentaries and won numerous prestigious awards like Cannes Cyber Lion and Webby Awards.

    During her tenure at the NFB, she spearheaded strategic planning and operational enhancements for digital platforms, notably revamping the NFB Films App and introducing new features for interactive projects.

    An esteemed speaker, Janine has graced conferences worldwide in cities like Vancouver, Montreal, New York, Tokyo, and Amsterdam, while actively participating in funding juries, expert panels, pitch events, and mentorship programs for budding artists.

    Before joining the NFB, Janine held a pivotal role as a Business Analyst at BC Film, where she played a key role in establishing pioneering digital and interactive media funding programs, overseeing renowned initiatives like the Slate Development Fund and Passport to Markets programs.

    Janine's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History from the University of Victoria, grounding her diverse expertise in a solid academic foundation.

    Residing and operating in the territories of the Coast Salish peoples, Janine recognizes and acknowledges the traditional lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stóō, Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
