Spencer Cohen
Spencer Cohen is a writer and researcher with a focus on Japanese history, nationalism, and cities. He holds a Master's degree from The University of Tokyo and a B.A. Honors in History, Modern Japanese History from Columbia University in the City of New York. He has contributed pieces to The Los Angeles Review of Books, Newsweek Japan, and The Japan Times, among other publications. Cohen's research and study have been funded by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute, European Institute, and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Foundation. He has also worked as a Blavatnik Internship Program, Japan Studies Intern at Council on Foreign Relations and as Tokyo Office Staff/Intern at Magnum Photos. Additionally, he has undertaken a multi-year photographic project on war in contemporary Japan.
