Sophia Mowla is the Chief Growth Officer at ONI, where she manages People, Talent, Investor Relations & Comms, and contributes to business development. She is also responsible for ONI's UK site. Prior to joining ONI, Sophia led the life sciences practice at True Search, a top executive search firm in North America. She worked with leading life science and tech investors and founders, collaborating with True equity to invest in high-growth companies like ONI. Sophia also played a crucial role in the Global Healthcare practice at Russell Reynolds Associates, working with Fortune 500 pharmaceutical and life science companies on executive search and leadership. Additionally, Sophia has a background in venture capital, private equity, and a keen interest in transformational technology. She has a strong track record of placing CEOs and Chairs for investor-backed companies that have seen successful exits. Sophia's academic background includes a First Class Master’s degree from University College London in Natural Sciences, specializing in Cell & Molecular Biology and Science Communication. She pursued a PhD at Imperial College London in translational oncology using CRISPR/Cas9 technology for cancer therapeutics. During her PhD, she started a consultancy providing pre-deal due diligence and business development services, and she continues to advise founders and investors in the biotech sector. Sophia is dedicated to making the world a better place, driven by a passion for people and innovation in science. She values cultural diversity due to her mixed Mediterranean and Southern-Asian background. Sophia is focused on building a strategic network of thought leaders to support ONI's mission, driven by her belief that people are at the heart of every decision.
