Dr. Simone Peters is a psychophysiologist specializing in brain-gut therapies for functional gastrointestinal disorders.12 She combines private practice at the Mind+Gut Clinic with a research appointment at the Gastroenterology Department of The Alfred Hospital, Monash University.12
Dr. Peters is known for her pioneering work in gut-directed hypnotherapy (GDH) for treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).1 She was the first academic to examine the efficacy of GDH as a treatment for IBS in Australia, finding it to be as effective as the low FODMAP diet.1
In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr. Peters is:
