Simone Jones is the Director of New Business Development at Mercy Ships, a global charity that operates hospital ships to provide free healthcare services to those with limited access.13 In her role, she oversees all aspects of development, including executing a five-year strategic plan, building and managing corporate partnerships, and securing funds and donations in kind to fulfill Mercy Ships' mission.3

With over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector as a corporate partnership liaison, Simone specializes in partnership acquisition, training, program and campaign development, fundraising, budgeting, stewardship, marketing, and communications.1 Before joining Mercy Ships, she worked at the Wounded Warrior Project and the Monterey Bay Aquarium for over 10 years.1

Simone is based in Jacksonville, Florida, and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.1 In her personal time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, walking her dogs, and open-water swimming.1

Mercy Ships recently held a signature event in Miami called "A Transformational Journey" to celebrate and support the organization's mission of hope and healing.2 The event raised over $305,000 in donations and pledges towards the fundraising campaign goal of $600,000 to support the HOPE Center in Sierra Leone.2
