Simon Allen

Simon Allen is a seasoned professional with 18 years of experience in managing publicly funded business finance and support programmes. Currently, he leads UMi's business investment and growth initiatives, overseeing grants, loans, and consultancy services.

Simon's expertise lies in utilizing various funding sources such as RGF, ESIF, LGF, RDPE, and Big Lottery funding. Prior to his role at UMi, he worked at One North East, a Regional Development Agency, managing programs like Business Link and the Manufacturing Advisory Service.

Before transitioning to the public sector, Simon held management positions in manufacturing and distribution in the private sector. He has a solid educational background, having studied BA (Hons) at the University of Durham, Diploma in Marketing at Northumbria University, and completing his secondary education at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn.

Simon Allen's professional journey includes roles such as Investment Centre Director and Chairman of UMi Employee Ownership Trust at WE ARE UMi, and various positions at BE Group Employee Ownership Trust. He has also served as a Business Support Manager at One NorthEast and held consulting and managerial positions in companies like Bowman Solutions and Silentnight Group.
