Simeon Franklin

Simeon Franklin is currently a Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Lead at PlusPlus. Previously, he held positions such as Technical Instructor, SWE, and Tech Lead at Twitter, overseeing the technical education program for engineers.

With a strong history in software development, Simeon began with writing desktop applications in VB 5.0 and Delphi for a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary before transitioning to web development using technologies like PHP, Python, and various frameworks such as Zend Framework and Django.

He possesses extensive experience in front-end web development, working with JavaScript, DOM, frameworks like JQuery, and various JavaScript APIs. His expertise also extends to CSS frameworks and database management.

As an instructor at Marakana, Simeon leveraged his Python skills to teach at tech giants like Intel, Facebook, and Cisco, fostering a culture of learning. Upon Marakana's acquisition by Twitter, he continued as a Technical Instructor, guiding engineers and contributing to the Engineering Effectiveness organization.

Simeon also actively supported the Bay Area Python community by co-organizing the SF Python Meetup for a decade and co-founding the PyBay conferences.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University, Stanislaus.
