Silvia Backes is a dedicated individual with over twenty years of experience in humanitarian assistance and protection, public communication, program management, international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and humanitarian diplomacy. She is committed to helping children born with cleft lip and palate by facilitating free surgeries and comprehensive care.

Silvia's educational background includes studying Languages (English and Portuguese) at Centro Universitário de Brasilia, a postgraduate course on Law of Armed Conflict from the University of Bochum & University of Brasilia, and a Professional Course on Humanitarian Law and Policy at Harvard University and Centro Internacional de Recursos para la Paz de Barcelona. She also holds a Master's degree in International Cooperation for Development - Humanitarian Assistance from Universidad Nacional de San Martín, a Diploma in Marketing Digital & Community Management, and completed professional studies in Business - Leading Innovation at Stanford University.

Throughout her career, Silvia Backes has held key positions such as Program Manager for South America at Smile Train and Language Specialist at the Regional Communication Center of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). She has also served as a Consultant on context analysis and media monitoring, as well as a Country Program Coordinator at ICRC.
