Silas Ochieng

Director: Monitoring, Evaluation,Research and Learning-USAID/FCDO Inclusive Resilience in Somalia (DT Global)

Silas Ochieng is a seasoned Monitoring and Evaluations Specialist with over 12 years of professional experience in research, value chains development, projects evaluation, and market systems practice across agriculture, financial inclusion, and climate resilience projects.

He holds a Masters Degree in Research Methods, a Certificate in Applied Statistics from the University of Reading, a Bsc in Agriculture, and a certification in DCED Standards for Results Measurement from Wageningen, Netherlands.

Silas has a strong background in Impact Evaluations, establishing Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation of Market Systems programmes, designing Results Measurement plans, Programmes Theory of Change, Log frames & Value for Money measurement frameworks.

Currently, Silas serves as the Regional Monitoring & Results Measurement Manager for a DFID investment focused programme, Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness in Malawi, Uganda, and Nepal since April 2019.

Prior to his current role, he held key positions such as Research, Monitoring, and Evaluations Manager at DAI-Europe for a DFID funded M4P programme in Somalia and as the Research, Monitoring, and Adaptation Manager at Value Chain Finance Centre supported by USAID-FIRM and FSD Kenya.

Furthermore, Silas worked on Food Security Programmes at the World Agroforestry Centre focusing on Climate Change Adaptation and Food Security across 14 African countries. He has also conducted consultancies in agricultural value chain studies for IFAD and contributed to agriculture projects in various countries including Somalia, Uganda, Malawi, Sudan, and Tanzania.
