Sid Xiao is a highly skilled professional specializing in automatic vehicle control, dynamic modeling, and simulation with a focus on vehicle handling and behavioral analysis. Currently working at AgustaWestland, he plays a crucial role in supporting the certification of the AW609 civil tiltrotor as a handling qualities and simulation specialist. His responsibilities at AgustaWestland include handling qualities assessment, simulation analysis, model validation, and real-time flight test telemetry data analysis. In the past, Sid has gained extensive experience in developing and implementing physics models for helicopter Flight Training Devices (FTD) and Full Flight Simulators (FFS). He has also worked on improving the math model for V-22 Osprey training simulators, collaborating with industry-leading teams such as Bell, Boeing, Navair, and the Air Force engineering team. During a rotation program at Bell's XworX experimental engineering facility, Sid was involved in various engineering processes, including a conformal fuel tank and a nose-mounted weapons pylon system modification for the V-22, from wind tunnel testing to on-aircraft implementation.
