Shreya Parjan

Shreya Parjan is a data scientist and artificial intelligence researcher at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).14 She holds a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Wellesley College.1 Parjan joined JPL's Artificial Intelligence Group in July 2021 as a Member of Technical Staff in the Planning and Execution Section.15
At JPL, Parjan has worked on several significant projects:
- She studied decentralized observation allocation algorithms for large-scale satellite constellations.2
- She supported Flight Software Verification and Validation for the Mars 2020 Onboard Planner.13
- She contributed to the development and testing of the On Board Planner (OBP) for the Perseverance rover, which entered primary operations on October 5, 2023.3
Prior to her full-time role, Parjan interned at JPL, working on automating participation in Deep Space Network scheduling for missions with low-complexity requirements.1
Parjan's research has been published in reputable journals. She co-authored a paper on "Decentralized Observation Allocation for a Large-Scale Constellation" and another on the "Verification and Validation of the M2020 On Board Planner Flight Software".23
As of January 2025, Parjan is transitioning to a new role as Lead Autonomy Engineer at Orpheus Ocean5, indicating her growing expertise and leadership in the field of artificial intelligence and space technology.
