Shirin Hamid is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in leading digital transformation initiatives at international organizations. She served as the Director General and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Information Technology Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from 2016 to 2021.12 During her tenure at ADB, Hamid led a team of over 600 IT personnel and revolutionized the bank's IT ecosystem, modernizing policies, revamping operations, and fostering innovation in areas such as big data, cybersecurity, and digital platforms.3
Prior to her role at ADB, Hamid spent 11 years at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as Chief Technology Officer and Director, overseeing IT functions and operations across 170 countries and territories.23 She has also held leadership positions in the private sector, including roles at Keppel Group, Deloitte, and Andersen Consulting/Accenture.2
Currently, Shirin Hamid serves as the Chief Information Officer and Director of the Information Technology Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a position she assumed on January 4, 2022.35 In this role, she is responsible for leading the IMF's IT modernization efforts and leveraging technology to support the organization's work.
Hamid holds a Master's degree in Business Systems Analysis and Design from City University of London and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Coventry University.3 Her leadership in digital transformation has been recognized with several awards, including the CIO 100 Award in 2019, 2021, and 2022.4
