Sherry holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from the University of North Dakota, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Information Systems and Services from Park University, a Bachelor of Science in Management/Computer Information Systems from Park University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming from Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

With a rich professional history, Sherry Lawdermilt has held notable roles such as Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Austin Peay State University, Chief Information Officer at Bemidji State University, and various directorial positions at the University of North Dakota. Prior to her roles in academia, Sherry gained experience as a Senior Programmer Analyst at the City of Grand Forks and as a Supply Clerk in the United States Marine Corps.
