Sherri Koehler is a dedicated and passionate yoga instructor and event manager with an impressive background in both fields. With years of experience teaching Hatha and Restorative yoga, Sherri has developed a unique teaching approach that emphasizes compassion, mindfulness, and body awareness. Whether she is conducting yoga classes for individuals or facilitating large group sessions at various events, Sherri instills a sense of calm and clarity through her practices, inviting all participants to connect deeply with themselves, regardless of their physical limitations or abilities.
A graduate of Beloit College, where she studied Anthropology and Management, Sherri has cultivated a strong foundation that underpins her teaching philosophy and community management skills. Her educational background provides a broad perspective on human behavior and organizational dynamics, which she applies effectively in both her yoga practice and event planning endeavors. Her approach to yoga incorporates Loving-Kindness (Metta) practice and emphasizes alignment and breath control through Pranayama, making her classes accessible and nurturing.
In addition to her yoga instruction, Sherri is a highly skilled community manager and event planner. She has extensive experience in event logistics, handling everything from budget planning to vendor management and volunteer coordination. Sherri has successfully organized multi-day technology events that require seamless integration of catering, audio-visual services, and video production. Her work is distinguished by her ability to create order and clarity, leading to smooth and enjoyable experiences for all participants. She is the former Chair of Ignite Portland and has held critical roles in various conferences, including her position as Logistics Lead at the Open Source Bridge Conference.
Sherri's versatility shines as she balances her roles in yoga and event management, using the skills she has honed over the years to mentor others and to create enriching environments, whether through yoga exercises or event participation. Sherri's passion for both yoga and community engagement inspires many, motivating her students and colleagues alike to uphold the values of connection, mindfulness, and inclusivity.
In her role as a yoga instructor at City of Portland Parks & Recreation, Sherri has consistently delivered high-quality classes while fostering a supportive environment for her students. Her contribution to the yoga community extends to her previous teaching positions at renowned institutions such as Yoga Shala of Portland and Plus One Health Management Inc. Each of these experiences has contributed to her growth as a teacher and has allowed her to share her love of yoga with diverse audiences.
