Sheila Sofian

Sheila Sofian is an independent filmmaker and educator specializing in animated documentary. She holds an MFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts and a BFA in Film/Video/Animation from the Rhode Island School of Design. Sheila has an extensive background in academia, having served as a Full Professor at the University of Southern California and as the Department Chair of Animation at the College of the Canyons. She has also worked as a Staff Animator at Metapa, a Freelance Animator at Picture Mill and Imagine Entertainment, and as the Coordinator of the Animation Program at The University of the Arts.
Sheila Sofian's areas of expertise include painting-on-glass animation and documentary animation. With a passion for animated documentaries, she brings a unique perspective to her work as a filmmaker and educator, enriching the field with her creative vision and practical experience.
