Shazia Islamshah is a highly educated professional with a diverse academic background. She holds a Master's degree in Creative Writing from The University of Edinburgh, a Master of Arts (MA) in Humanitarian Action from the University of Geneva, a Social Entrepreneurship Programme certification from INSEAD, a Masters in Ecological Design Thinking from Schumacher College, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and Middle East Studies from McGill University.

Throughout her career, Shazia has held various roles in prominent organizations, showcasing her expertise in program management, research, coordination, administration, humanitarian work, and advocacy. She has served as Programme Manager for the Lebanon Country Programme at Drosos Foundation, Research Assistant at the Centre for Ethics at the University of Zurich, Member of Expert Group Coordination/Administration at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and Program Manager at Peace Women Across the Globe.

In her tenure with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Shazia held positions of increasing responsibility, including Deputy Head of Delegation, Deputy Head of Operations in East Africa, Coordinator in the Protection Department, Head of Sub Delegation, and Head of Office. She also worked as a Delegate at ICRC, gaining valuable field experience in humanitarian operations.

Shazia Islamshah has also contributed to advocacy efforts, having worked as an Assistant at the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers and as a Communications Officer at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Her experience extends to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) where she served as a Humanitarian Sanctions Officer.
