    Energy and Climate Research + Policy

    Shayak Sengupta is an environmental engineer and Ph.D. candidate specializing in research at the nexus of air quality, climate change, and energy systems. He possesses expertise in quantitative and qualitative policy analysis, atmospheric modeling, integrated assessment, techno-economic assessment, and data analysis. Shayak is a former Fulbright-Nehru scholar and Boren Fellow with a strong academic background.

    Shayak studied for his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, building on his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rice University. He has a diverse educational background that complements his research interests.

    His professional experience includes being a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress and an Engineering and Public Policy Ph.D. Student at Carnegie Mellon University. Additionally, Shayak has contributed as an NSF Graduate Research Intern at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has also gained industry experience through internships at Shell and GSI Environmental Inc., showcasing his practical understanding of environmental engineering.

His academic achievements, combined with his practical experiences, position him as a promising professional in the field of environmental engineering and public policy.
