Shawn Marcell

Shawn Marcell is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the life sciences and technology sectors. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman and Founder of SemPresto, Inc., a role he has held since its inception. In addition to his position at SemPresto, he is also the Executive Chairman and CEO of Bifrost Biosystems, a company focused on high-throughput multi-generational single-cell imaging and genotyping, which emerged from Harvard Medical School.12

Marcell's career spans over 30 years, during which he has co-founded and led several venture-backed companies, raising over $400 million in capital for various organizations. His previous roles include serving as a Director at AIxMed, Inc., where he contributed to the development of AI-powered cytology analysis, and as a Visiting Scholar/Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard University's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering.123 He has also been involved with organizations like Coagulo Medical Technologies, where he helped commercialize point-of-care diagnostic technologies.12

Educationally, Marcell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The George Washington University. His expertise encompasses corporate strategy, interdisciplinary team leadership, and technology innovation within the life sciences.2
