Shaun Conway

Shaun Conway is the Founder and President of the ixo Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on developing open-source software for identifying, verifying, and valuing impact. He has been in this role since July 2017, operating primarily from Switzerland and Cape Town, South Africa. The ixo protocol he invented aims to enhance the measurement of social and environmental impacts, leveraging blockchain technology to improve transparency and accountability in impact reporting.13

Conway has a diverse background, including experience as a medical doctor, where he addressed the global HIV pandemic in Africa and Asia. He transitioned from medicine to technology, applying his skills to tackle complex global challenges through innovative solutions. In addition to his work with ixo, he is also the founder of several other initiatives, including Consent, which focuses on empowering personal information management, and 9Needs, which aims to foster healthier living through design-led innovations.124

His contributions to social innovation have been recognized through various awards, including a grant for developing decentralized applications to support early childhood development programs in South Africa. Conway is also a Chevening Scholar, reflecting his leadership potential and commitment to impactful work.1
