ICFJ is a global non-profit organization that supports a network of 160,000 journalists, and has staff and consultants in more than 20 countries. Notable accomplishments include designing and driving a new strategy; reorienting long-standing programs to increase impact and efficiencies, developing an aggressive new communication and though-leadership effort; building new fundraising models amid a shifting media landscape; and setting in place new policies around staff experience.

International Center for Journalists (ICFJ)

President

Oversaw new project fundraising and development, innovation, research, and impact. Promoted from Vice President to take on more responsibility and increased oversight of new areas of growth for the organization.

Senior Vice President, New Initiatives

Led the design of projects to strengthen editorial, technological, and business operations of legacy and digital news outlets. Provided leadership in identifying, cultivating and securing major partnerships and funding. Built collaborative networks to strengthen independent media and provide communities reliable information.

Vice President, New Initiatives

Developed and executed a digital media strategy for all ICFJ programs. Led ICFJ’s strategic focus on helping journalists and news outlets embrace digital transformation. Pioneered some of the world’s first citizen journalism networks—in Malaysia, Egypt and India— that engaged communities in the news process. Created ICFJ’s first online training program, developing blended learning courses for journalists in multiple languages.

Director, Digital Media

Responsible for developing communications products to advance and promote the work of the largest journalism funder in the U.S. Developed digital promotional materials for Knight’s inaugural News Challenge, one of the first innovation challenge competitions in the philanthropy sector. Oversaw press announcements and events, and created a bimonthly online multimedia magazine to highlight grantee projects.

Covered an array of stories on Japanese culture, politics and personalities, including sexual harassment and the Tokaimura nuclear power plant accident as well as North Korea’s growing nuclear ambitions.
