Shannen Dabson
Higher Education Progression Adviser at Shaping Futures
Shannen Dabson is a dedicated individual with a strong passion for lifelong learning and promoting equal access to education in society. Currently, Shannen works as a Higher Education Progression Adviser at Shaping Futures, the Merseyside Uni Connect Programme under the Office for Students.
In this role, Shannen collaborates with young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to remove barriers to higher education. The primary goal of the project is to empower these students to make informed decisions about their future, serving as a springboard for social mobility.
Shannen brings a unique perspective to her work, having overcome challenges related to her disability on her journey to university. She aspires to leverage her personal experiences to assist others in reaching their full potential.
Shannen Dabson holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Educational Psychology with a 2.1 from Edge Hill University. Prior to this, she attended Mayfield Sixth Form College.
With a diverse professional background, Shannen has held various roles including Student Engagement Officer, Education Liaison Assistant, Mentor, Front Desk Receptionist, and Disabled Students Officer at Edge Hill University. Her experience also includes positions such as Online Mentor, Residentials Night Officer, Student Ambassador, Student Guide at the same institution, as well as Young Advocate at The Young M.E Sufferers Trust.
