Shane Skikne

Shane Skikne is a Senior Software Engineer at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), a role he has held since February 2021. He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and works on the Summit Learning Platform, which is designed to empower teachers by allowing them to customize instruction to better meet the needs of individual students. His responsibilities include designing and building tools for curriculum authors, teachers, and students, focusing on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of educational feedback and enhancing the performance of key platform pages.12

Before his current position, Shane was a Software Engineer at CZI from February 2018 to February 2021. He has also co-founded a non-profit called Launch Studio, which aimed to integrate entrepreneurship and making into the educational curriculum for middle and high school students. His background includes diverse experiences in software engineering, education, and curriculum development, reflecting a strong commitment to enhancing educational outcomes through technology.2

Shane graduated from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, where he studied electrical and computer engineering. His work at CZI aligns with his passion for education and technology, focusing on creating impactful educational tools and systems.2
