Shane Hegarty

Dr. Shane Hegarty is a highly accomplished professional with a background in neuroscience and a strong academic record.

After graduating as the top-ranked student with a first-class honors degree in Neuroscience BSc from UCC, he received numerous awards and scholarships recognizing his academic excellence.

His research career includes post-doctoral fellowships, international training courses, and multiple publications in prestigious journals.

In addition to his research, Shane has been actively involved in outreach projects and has received grants and awards for his contributions to the field of neuroscience.

He has held various academic and research positions at institutions such as UCC, Harvard Medical School, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

In 2021, Dr. Hegarty co-founded AXONIS Therapeutics, where he currently serves as the Chief Scientific Officer, focusing on the development of new therapies for neurological disorders.
