Shady Gamaleldeen
Senior Health Benefit Package Specialist at Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia
Shady Gamaleldeen is an Associate Project Manager in the Vision Realization Office, Program for Health Assurance and Purchasing (PHAP) at the Ministry of Health in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a position he has held since December 2018.
In his role, Shady has been instrumental in managing various projects related to the design of the Health Benefit Package (HBP), a key component of the new Saudi National Health Insurance system.
He played a pivotal role in setting up the structure and components of the Schedule of Benefits (SOB) determining the services to be included in the HBP and their relevant medical and setting rules.
Shady has led initiatives on unresolved services inclusion in the HBP, conducting workshops to decide on the inclusion/exclusion of medical services like Acne, Hair loss, Bariatric, Orthodontic, IVF, Refractive eye surgery & Spectacles/contact lenses.
He also created a comparison matrix to evaluate Utilization Management/Medical Necessity vendors, enabling the establishment of medical guidelines and order sets for national-level public healthcare activities.
His role involved assessing provider capabilities within the Ministry of Health to identify gaps that needed to align with transformation objectives and leading critical path products for PHAP's implementation of the HBP.
Shady's academic background includes a Master of Science in Administration-Health Care Management (MSA-HCM) from California State University-Bakersfield. He also studied Biology at the University of Tampa and the American University of Beirut.
