Volunteers In Asia is a global non-profit organization that promotes cross-cultural understanding, builds partnerships, and offers transformative experiences for its program participants.

I became part of their Social Impact Accelerator Program which aims to train a cohort of chapter leaders in Asia (from Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines) to develop a holistic project plan to implement in our communities.

For 6 months, we underwent virtual training on teambuilding & communication, ideation & needfinding, and project development through online course content, live sessions, and individual and group assignments. It would have culminated in a conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand (unfortunately, COVID happened).

Our project, EduCatalyst ExL, is a 10-day immersive trip for under-privileged high-school students that aims to address 3 key themes: Global Awareness, Cultural Competency, and Social Responsibility. We can't make that happen anytime soon, but we're excited for the day we can finally bring it to life!

We also started a Facebook community to encourage storytelling about global learning experiences among Filipino youth.

The program was launched in 2016 by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and funded by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of South Korea. We were selected as the only Philippine company in its 2018 accelerator program.

One of 100 Leaders of Tomorrow selected from 1300 global applicants.The St. Gallen Symposium is a global gathering of Leaders of Today and Leaders of Tomorrow that takes place annually in May at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is organized by the International Students’ Committee (ISC), a team of students from the university. The goal is to provide a setting for relevant debates between Leaders of Today and Tomorrow on topics of management, politics and civil society. This year's topic focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Economy: the rising trends in technology and automation as a key factor in reconciling an inclusive growth despite the threats of displacement of works and joblessness.

The Design Thinking for Social Innovation program included introductory sessions and workshops on social innovation, design-thinking, leadership, cross-cultural communication, and social challenges in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The program also included local town immersion in San Francisco China Town and Japan Town, visiting different social enterprises in Palo Alto, work sessions with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and a prototype case study on energy and environmental issue. Our team worked on a prototype in waste management and recycling prototype focusing on aesthetics, sensor segregation technology and a filter and water cycle system for plant growing. The goal is to generate a sustainable behavior change through appropriate education tools and innovation.

Stanford-Japan Design Thinking for Social Innvovation in Silicon Valley

Exora Technologies Inc.  is an energy solutions platform for businesses to connect with retail electricity suppliers (RES), alternative energy resources, and off-grid electricity suppliers to create the best contract which fits their electricity needs. Exora enable businesses to place their electricity profiles up for bidding in its platform and connect them with their suitable electricity partner who is able to meet their desired price range and contract details. We prioritize electricity savings and optimization through aggregation and competitive bidding. Exora offers a web-based consultative bidding platform that doubles as a management and monitoring service through an integrated power monitoring system.

(1) Bidding platform which allows businesses to choose the cheapest electricity contract for their company.
(2) Big data analytics and optimization which allows businesses to mix contract-based, trading-based, and off-grid energy resources to save money in their electricity consumption and promote renewable energy. 
(3) Aggregation service which allows businesses to collaborate with each other to leverage a cheaper contract for their companies.

As a research intern in the biomedical engineering department of CYCU, we conducted a project on a wearable photoplethysmogram sensor with wireless communication integration for real time health monitoring purposes.

Power Camp is an annual business case and ideation competition on renewable energy technology and innovation. 

As a Student Coach, I provided mentorship to the student participants on the technical and commercial aspects of the business proposal that they will make. A student coach acts as a mentor on determining the viability of ideas of the student participants.

As president, I am mainly in charge of directing the organization in forwarding its advocacy of social service through engineering. Other responsibilities include:

(1) Officiating over all Executive Board and Central Board meetings and activities.
(2) Serving as the organization’s official representative in occasions that warrant such representation 
(3) Managing all activities of the organization by constant coordination with the Executive Board.

As associate marketing head, I am mainly in charge of directing the sponsorship-hunting, fund-raising and subsidy-related  activities of the organization. Other responsibilities include collecting and reviewing the feasibility of the project proposal and documentation reports for the marketing department of the organization.
