Senthil Kumar Rengasamy, Ph.D. is a Senior Scientist at BASF's Technical Marketing Industrial Coating Group.13 In his current role, Dr. Rengasamy develops acrylic-based polymers and coatings for wood and metal substrates.1

Dr. Rengasamy has over 12 years of industrial research experience in the synthesis and formulation of acrylic emulsions, polyurethane dispersions, alkyds, silicones, and UV-curable resins for aerospace, automotive, and general industrial applications.1 He has published more than 12 research articles and has 6 pending patents.1

Dr. Rengasamy holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Polymers & Coatings from Eastern Michigan University, and a B.Tech in Polymer Technology from Anna University, India.13 He is currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina.4

• Developing a novel acrylic emulsion that can inherently create a matte coating surface without using matting agents1
• Correlating paint film integrity in the lab with wood grain crack resistance in real-world exposure2
