    Selvarajasingham Umakanthan is a dedicated professional with over 13 years of experience in project management and humanitarian work, specializing in water supply, hygiene promotion, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

    Umakanthan's career in humanitarian aid began in 2004 as a volunteer assisting the Sri Lanka Red Cross and the American Red Cross in providing immediate relief to families affected by the tsunami. In 2007, he officially joined the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as a project assistant, kickstarting his journey in project management.

    Throughout his tenure at IFRC, Umakanthan has undertaken various roles including Project Assistant, Project Officer, Senior Project Officer, Monitoring Officer, and Project Support Officer. His expertise lies in project monitoring, reporting, and information management, honed through successful foreign missions supporting partner national societies in the Asia Pacific region.

    Educationally, Umakanthan holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, complemented by a Higher National Diploma in Computing from ESOFT Metro Campus.

    Currently serving as the Senior Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Officer at IFRC, Umakanthan continues to exemplify his commitment to humanitarian efforts and project management.
