Sekhar Bandyopadhyay

Sekhar Bandyopadhyay is a highly accomplished educator and historian known for his expertise in Asian and Indian history.

He pursued his academic journey at the University of Calcutta, achieving outstanding success with a BA (Honours), MA, and a PhD in History, where he excelled notably by securing the top position in his MA class and earning a gold medal.

Additionally, Sekhar Bandyopadhyay also studied at Presidency College, enriching his academic arsenal.

His vast professional experience includes serving as an Emeritus Professor of History at Victoria University of Wellington and holding the prestigious position of Director at the New Zealand India Research Institute, affiliated with the same university.

Prior to his roles in New Zealand, Dr. Bandyopadhyay was a distinguished Professor of Asian History at Victoria University of Wellington and made significant contributions as a Reader in South and Southeast Asian Studies at his alma mater, the University of Calcutta.
