Sean Cercone

Sean Cercone is the CEO and Founder of Broadway Licensing, a prominent company in the theater industry that encompasses several brands including Dramatists Play Service, Playscripts, Stage Rights, Stageworks Productions, and Broadway On Demand. Under his leadership, Broadway Licensing has become a significant player in theatrical development and distribution, managing nearly 24,000 productions annually and collaborating with over 2,800 authors.1

Cercone's career includes notable previous roles such as Chief Business Officer and Senior Vice President of Professional and International Licensing at Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW). He has also been involved in various artistic capacities, including serving as the Producing Artistic Director of The Carousel and founding the West Virginia Shakespeare Festival. His contributions to the theater community have been recognized with accolades such as being named to Crain’s Business Top 40 Under 40.1

He holds an MFA in Theatre from West Virginia University and has been instrumental in innovations like ShowShareTM, a licensing interface that allows productions to stream performances globally, particularly vital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Broadway On Demand, launched under his guidance in 2020, has established itself as a leading platform for streaming theatrical content.1
