Scott Gubbels

Scott Gubbels is the President of Nelnet Renewable Energy and Executive Director of Corporate Tax at Nelnet.1 He has been with Nelnet since December 2003, serving in various leadership roles related to tax, corporate ventures, and renewable energy.1

Gubbels has extensive experience in corporate tax management, having worked as a certified public accountant for eight years before joining Nelnet.2 At Nelnet, he has managed tax considerations for over 55 acquisitions and led efforts in tax planning, compliance, and controversy defense.2

In his current role, Gubbels oversees Nelnet's investment and engagement in renewable energy.2 He has been instrumental in:

• Overseeing the funding and management of $156 million in solar tax equity
• Completing several equity fundings with co-investors
• Launching Nelnet's community solar subscription acquisition and management business
• Furthering Nelnet's commitment to cleantech and the renewables industry2

Under Gubbels' leadership, Nelnet has committed over $620 million in solar tax equity investments since 2018, supporting the construction and operation of solar projects.4 He is also involved in Nelnet's co-investment platform, which allows accredited investors to participate in renewable energy projects.3
