Scot Kersgaard

Scot Kersgaard has been the Jefferson County Assessor since January 8, 2019, following his election in November 2018. In this role, he oversees a team of approximately 60 individuals responsible for determining the market value of all properties in the county.

With a robust background in real estate spanning over 20 years, Scot Kersgaard has worked at various renowned brokerages, bringing a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to his current position.

In addition to his real estate expertise, Scot Kersgaard is a seasoned communications professional with a versatile skill set that includes journalism, media relations, and corporate communications. He has a strong foundation in online and print journalism, having served as a full-time reporter, editor, and freelance reporter for reputable publications.

During his tenure at The Colorado Independent from January 2010 to April 2013, Scot Kersgaard transitioned from a freelance reporter to a part-time staff reporter and eventually assumed the role of editor in January 2011. He also contributed outdoor/adventure columns, features, and travel articles to the Rocky Mountain News and MSN's local Denver site.

As a freelance journalist, Scot Kersgaard's work has been featured in prestigious publications such as The Denver Post, The Washington Post, and The Huffington Post, among others. His corporate communications experience includes crafting various content for prominent companies like Ford, General Electric, and IBM, ranging from executive speeches to press releases.

Prior to his current position, Scot Kersgaard served as the director of public relations at Intelligent Electronics, a Fortune 400 technology corporation. Additionally, he has co-owned a newspaper and worked as a press secretary for a United States Senator, showcasing his diverse professional background.

Scot Kersgaard pursued his undergraduate studies in English at the University of Washington, further honing his communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
