Machine Learning Engineer

- designed and implemented new features in C++ for an embedded hardware platform known as Synthstrom Deluge; a mobile digital audio workstation.
- audited the codebase for patterns that could be refactored to reduce binary size, successfully reduced the binary image size by 5mb by introducing a custom implementation of sprintf, and using automation tools that I had developed to automatically migrate the codebase
- enabled logging over sysex, wrangling an obscure binary protocol and writing a python-counterpart to receive the logged messages
- rewrote the firmware transfer mechanism, also in sysex, created new tools to make debugging this process easier including isolating the firmware receiving implementation so it could run on a dev machine instead of the device to accelerate development and iteration
- introduced a logging framework which also improved the teams ability to inspect many types of data at run-time
- implemented partial/non-destructive copy/paste, support for program change messages as looper commands, ux changes to how synth voices are embedded in kit rows, and developed a prototype for an in-browser version of the deluge which mirrored the physical device (thereby allowing web-oriented e2e tools to be used for automated acceptance testing)

- Developed Conduit's first MVP
  - Starting with a narrative that described the first demo and fundamental set of use-cases we'd like to support, I designed a full-stack architecture that integrated fireblocks, airtable, and next.js to deliver the aspired experience in under 3 months
  - Conduit's first 10 customers were able to successfully deposit, generate yield, and withdrawal. Accomplishing the company's goals and enabling the team to nearly exceed their sales targets.

Created an analytics pipeline with Segment.io, Stitch, Redshift and Re:dash to help us understand how people engage with their lawmakers and interact with advocacy organizations. After we switched from Segment.io, I led development on several new pipelines including Alooma and Metabase. Eventually, we took analytics in-house, and I wrote the pipeline to help us keep delivering insights to our partners through rich dashboards in Mode Analytics. I also wrote new tools for advocacy and civic engagement with Vue.js, Redux , React-Native and Java (Android).

Rally was one of the greatest teams I've worked with. I started out working in Rails with a focus on pair programming and TDD. For the remainder of my time, I worked on Rally's iOS experience, and explored new frameworks to migrate our Web experience. We rewrote of much of the front-end in Angular, which enabled us to successfully launch several new products and services in advance of our estimated completion dates.

At CTA/DX-Storm, I led the development of web applications to provide services to the transportation and telemarketing industry. I created a B2B transportation market with 1400 trucking companies and brokerages on the RubyOnRails framework. I  analyzed our backend performance with Ruby-Prof/ApacheBench & NewRelic. Then implemented optimizations through refactoring, compiled mysql extensions, memcached and rails action/fragment caches. I created several CRM/Analytics applications for identifying trends in our outbound sales, and producing reports to show correlations between our lead data's dimensions and salesperson call properties. 

We hired telemarketers to market our transportation application, I was responsible for all network administration, and growing our infrastructure to meet a salesforce that went from 2 to 100 employees within 3 years. I built the call center's initial auto-dialing system, and implemented increasingly complex systems to handle our inbound support calls and optimize our rep's performance. Through my time, I built 3 call centers, and the reporting/analytics systems necessary to give us a competitive advantage.  I built the network infrastructure to handle 100s of simultaneous calls across multiple redundant connections (T1 / Cable / Multiple DSL Lines).  I was the sole developer until we started our 2nd call center. I had 3 reports by the end of my time.
