Sarah Spear

Sarah Spear is a Software & DevOps Engineer with experience in maintaining open source software and overseeing leadership of technical teams. She is also a professionally trained communicator and a Professional Comedian & actor, known for producing comedy shows and organizing events.

Sarah's educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as completing an Advanced Software Engineering Immersive Program at Hack Reactor. She also pursued Advanced Study Programs in Improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and Marketing at Virginia Tech.

Throughout her career, Sarah has held various roles in organizations such as being a Small Business Owner at Texas Lonestar Rollergirls (TXRD), a Software Engineer at ShipStation, and an Owner & Co-Producer at spearsarah comedy. She has also worked as an SXSW Pitch Performance Coach, a DevOps Engineer, and a Software Engineer at RetailMeNot and Stoplight respectively.

Additionally, Sarah has served in leadership positions including being the Austin Chapters President at Techstars, Director of Operations & Business Development at WriterDuet, and Solutions Manager at Trusource Labs. She has also been involved in mentoring roles at Techstars and worked in program management at various organizations.

Sarah has a diverse background that extends to roles such as Freelance Graphic Designer, Intern at Washington Life magazine, Graphic Designer & Developer at Freelance, and Family Room Specialist & Mentor at Apple Retail. Her experience also includes being an Intern at The Meridian Group.

In her personal life, Sarah is also a Texas Roller Derby Roller Skater, showcasing a well-rounded mix of technical expertise, leadership skills, creative talents, and a passion for comedy and roller derby.
