Reporting directly to the CFO and VP of Finance, I consolidated and published the P&L for the educational childrens magazine, NatGeo Explorer.  I reported subscription and circulation revenues and cash flow projections.  In addition I worked cross functionally with other departments on new online product development and partnership ventures.  I worked closely with Sales and Marketing executives on the annual operaitons budget and quarterly forecastings. I was responsible for 5 year forecasting, process improvements for revenue recognition, royalty accounting, and foreign exchange accounting for worldwide subscriptions.  I documented and published a detailed policies and procedures manual for the Finance group.

Blackpoint IT is an IT consulting, management services, desktop support, and value added reseller (VAR) company that was that was growing at a rapid pace of 30% adding additional practice groups such as SQL Reporting, Sharepoint implementations, and laptop and printer repair services.  As their first Controller, I reported directly to the CEO and COO and initially caught up financials, created a quick close procedure, and implemented Microsoft Dynamics from a legacy system.  

I published and presented financial statements and set up key performance indicators. I created new accounting infrastructure with the added practices, a cost allocation system and ability to report and analyze profitability by practice.  I performed due diligence on 3 M&A’s, and developed a new banking relationship establishing a line of credit, desktop depositing and online tools.

BlackPoint IT Services

Surftech is the worlds largest surfboard manufacturer at revenues of $50M with 40% growth.  Surftech designs the most sought after models of the professional surfers, pioneering a new epoxy material construction technology to build the worlds strongest and lightest surfboard, turning the industry on it 's ear. As their first Controller I reported to the founder and CEO and was a part of the growing management team to grow the company further and taking it to a pre-IPO stage.  

I caught up the financials, reported sales by product type and implemented NetSuite EPR system from Quick Books software.  I established a worldwide serialized inventory tracking and distribution process, and created an automated invoicing and royalty reporting system increasing efficiencies by 75%.

Cemex is a mult-billion dollar vertically integrated building materials company with mining, manufacturing, and distribution services.  I was the Plant Controller at the Santa Cruz, CA mining and cement manufacturing facility where I managed the P&L, operating and capital budgeting, and implemented JDEdwards ERP and Kronos electronic timeclock systems.  I developed my strong cost accounting, inventory management, distribution management, and financial reporting skills with a required detailed analysis of multiple process levels of production.

I worked as a cash management analyst for Robert Half International at their headquarters in Menlo Park, CA while the company was experiencing 70% growth.  I was responsible for reporting and daily revenues by region, as well as handling high profile accounts.  I assisted with the development of automated process projects such as an electronic payment coupon scanner, integrating with PeopleSoft software.
