Sara Howell

Sara Howell is a dedicated policy program manager at The Public School Forum of North Carolina, known for her expertise in education and language instruction. With a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) focused on Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Sara has a strong academic background.

Sara's educational journey also includes a study of Spanish language, literature, and Chilean history at Pontifica Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, along with a BA in International Studies and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further honed her language skills by studying Spanish literature, history, and language at the University of Buenos Aires.

Throughout her career, Sara has held several key roles such as Head of Product, Director of Customer Success, Education Strategist, Manager of Program Operations, and Special Projects Coordinator at Participate, showcasing her diverse skill set and leadership abilities.

Prior to her time at Participate, Sara gained valuable experience as an ESL Newcomer Teacher at Durham Public Schools, ESL Lesson Plan Consultant at VIF International Education, and an ESL Instructor at Sandy Ridge Visual and Performing Arts Elementary. She also served as a Student Teacher at Forest View Elementary and as a Violin Teacher and Kindergarten Teaching Assistant at Sandy Ridge Visual and Performing Arts Elementary.

Sara's passion for language education extended beyond traditional settings, as evidenced by her roles as an English Language Conversation Teacher at the Spanish Ministry of Education and an English Tutor at Cum Laude English Academy.

Currently, Sara Howell shines in her role as a Program Manager, Policy at The Public School Forum of North Carolina, leveraging her extensive experience in education, program management, and language instruction to make a positive impact in the field of policy development.
