Sara Bertsch, Editor-in-Chief of The Collegian

Sara Bertsch is the Editor-in-Chief of The Collegian, the student newspaper at South Dakota State University (SDSU). As Editor-in-Chief, she leads the weekly publication and can be reached at sbertsch@sdsucollegian.com.13

Bertsch has served in this role since at least April 2016, when she wrote an editorial criticizing the lack of student attendance at forums for important administrative positions at SDSU.1 In the editorial, she argued that the university needs to find alternative methods to reach out to students, especially for important decisions, and that poor communication demonstrates students' apathy towards these issues.1

In addition to her work at The Collegian, Bertsch has also served as the lifestyles and education reporter for the Republic newspaper.2 The Dr. A. Monroe & Sarah Bertsch Family Fund, established by a Sarah Bertsch of Montrose, may be named after her or a relative.4
