Sanjiv Shah

Sanjiv Shah is a Managing Director at HarbourVest Partners, where he is part of the primary investment team. His focus includes investing with emerging and diverse managers, as well as private equity firms targeting the lower-middle market. Shah joined HarbourVest in 2016 following its acquisition of the BAML Capital Access Funds business, which he co-founded in 2002.

His career began at Bank of America in 1994, where he played a key role in expanding the bank's community development equity investments and establishing fund-of-funds investment programs aimed at underrepresented managers and underserved markets. Shah is also a founding member of HarbourVest’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council and serves as co-chair of The Association of Asian-American Investment Managers. He is actively involved in various private equity fund advisory boards and frequently speaks at industry events.

Educationally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Additionally, he is a Registered Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.123
