Sanjiv Rao

Sanjiv Rao is an accomplished professional with a strong educational background and extensive experience in civic engagement, government, education, and youth development.

He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Public Administration from New York University, an M.A. in Education from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles.

At the Ford Foundation, Sanjiv has held various key roles including Director of Civic Engagement & Government, Senior Program Officer, Acting Director of Civic Engagement & Government, Senior Program Officer for Youth Opportunity & Learning, and Program Officer for Educational Opportunity & Scholarship.

Prior to his tenure at the Ford Foundation, Sanjiv Rao served as the Executive Director of the New York State Network for Youth Success and gained valuable research experience at the Research Center for Leadership in Action at NYU.

His impressive career also includes positions as a Senior Associate at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University, and as a Teacher in both the Oakland Unified School District and the Austin Independent School District.
