Sanjay Shah was a prominent tech entrepreneur, best known as the Founder, CEO, and Chief Architect of Vistex, Inc., a leading enterprise software company specializing in revenue management solutions. Born in Mumbai, India, he moved to the United States to pursue an MBA at Lehigh University, graduating in 1989. Prior to founding Vistex in 1999, Shah held positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and General Motors, and later worked for SAP in Germany.124
Under Shah's leadership, Vistex grew significantly without external funding for over two decades, serving major clients like Apple, Walmart, and Bayer. The company expanded its operations globally and diversified its portfolio across various industries.14 In recent years, Shah secured minority equity investments from Accel-KKR and SAP to further enhance Vistex's growth and innovation capabilities.12
In addition to his business acumen, Shah was deeply committed to philanthropy. He established the Vistex Foundation to support non-profits focused on health and education and donated $5 million to Lehigh University to create the Vistex Institute for Executive Learning and Research. He also initiated the opening of a hospital in Bihar, India, which became a model facility during the COVID-19 pandemic.124
Tragically, Sanjay Shah passed away on January 18, 2024, following a serious accident during a company event in Hyderabad. He fell from a height of 15 feet alongside Raju Datla, the President of Vistex; while Datla survived with injuries, Shah succumbed to his injuries shortly after.25 His unexpected death has left a significant impact on the Vistex community and beyond, as he was regarded as an extraordinary leader whose contributions shaped the company's culture and success.35
