    Sanjana H. is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in peacebuilding, civic media, and digital security, focusing on the causes and impact of information disorders on democracy, institutions, and social cohesion in New Zealand.

    Having a background from the Global South and across five continents, Sanjana brings a wealth of knowledge on how social media and politics intersect, particularly in conflict-affected and fragile environments.

    With a Ph.D. in Social Media and Politics from the University of Otago, Sanjana is a trailblazer in her field. She is also the first Sri Lankan TED Fellow and has received fellowships from Ashoka and Rotary World Peace, further solidifying her expertise in promoting democratic governance, human rights, and media freedom.

    Sanjana's professional journey includes being the founder and former editor of Groundviews, Sri Lanka's pioneering citizen journalism website. As a Special Advisor at the ICT4Peace Foundation, she delves into the utilization and misappropriation of technologies in peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts.

    Through her roles at The Disinformation Project, University of Lugano, Ashoka, and other notable organizations, Sanjana has proven herself as an authority in her field, showcasing her dedication to exploring the potential and challenges of new technologies for societal advancement.
