Samuel Wang

Samuel Wang, often referred to as Sam Wang, is the Founding Director of the Electoral Innovation Lab (EIL) and a professor of neuroscience at Princeton University. He has a distinguished academic background, holding a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Stanford University. Wang has been a faculty member at Princeton since 2000 and has over two decades of experience in applying scientific methods to political processes, particularly in the realm of electoral reform and democracy enhancement.

At the Electoral Innovation Lab, which he established in 2021, Wang focuses on utilizing data-driven approaches to improve U.S. democracy. The lab's mission includes providing scientific evidence to support citizen-led organizations in identifying effective electoral reforms, such as redistricting and ranked-choice voting. Wang's previous initiatives include the Princeton Election Consortium and the Princeton Gerrymandering Project, which have been instrumental in addressing issues of fair representation and gerrymandering across the United States.1245
