Sameer Karulkar is an experienced professional with over 24 years of entrepreneurial leadership experience across various domains, including Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Private Equity, Venture Capital, Investment Banking, Corporate Strategy, and New Business Growth.1
Currently, Sameer functions as a Strategic Advisor, Fractional CxO, and Venture Builder through Coverpage Ventures, where he advises companies and SMEs on joint ventures, divestments, M&A, and PE.1 He also works with select startup founders on business growth, go-to-market strategies, corporate client acquisition, fundraising, and strategic partnerships.1
Prior to his current role, Sameer was part of the leadership team and Investment Committee at Times Group, where he headed the Portfolio Growth and Exits team.1 In this role, he was involved in the full life-cycle of equity investments, from entry to managing the entire equity investments portfolio (approximately 400 investments) and originating and executing exits, both private and public markets.1 Under his leadership, the team realized over US$300 million in portfolio exits for the shareholders, while also investing in close to 90 new investments.1
Before joining Times Group, Sameer led and managed a global mid-market cross-border M&A alliance called Oaklins for India's largest Bank, SBI Capital Markets, across 24 countries.1 He also originated and executed deals for/with companies in multiple global markets, including the US, EU, MENA, and SEA.1 Additionally, Sameer played a key role in establishing and managing the SBI MF Joint Venture with Amundi.1
Sameer started his career with the Mahindra Group in the late 1990s in Strategic Sourcing and also served the Haribhakti Group for over 5 years in the corporate finance team, executing valuations, mergers, diligence, and financing projects for their clients.1
